Stanford - Artificial Intelligence And Robotics Manipulation, machine learning, navigation, vision, tactile sensing, and reasoning. The goals of this research are to make robots both autonomous and dexterous, to increase the self-sufficiency of existing robots, and to enable robots to accomplish very delicate tasks.
Iowa State AI Group
Emphasis on intelligent agents and multi-agent systems, adaptive and learning systems (neural networks, machine learning, evolutionary computing), distributed knowledge networks, bioinformatics, and cognitive modeling.
Center for Research on Concepts and Cognition, Indiana University.
Emergent computational models of creative analogical thinking and its subcognitive substrate -- namely, fluid concepts. Several computer programs modeling the interplay between concepts and perception in the course of analogy-making have been developed; these include the Copycat and Tabletop programs. The Letter Spirit project, modeling the perception and creation of style in the world of letterforms, is currently in the developmental stages.
